Mountain Ways Ireland is an Approved Activity provider (AAP) for both the DofE and through the joint awards initiative the Gaisce – Presidents award.
We have many years experience leading groups in the mountains of Ireland and the UK.
As qualified Mountain Leaders (MLS) we will deliver a level of training, expedition skills and award management above and beyond what is asked for. Its not all about the hard mountain skills. We share our extensive knowledge of history, folklore, nature, wild edible plants and a deeper connection to the landscape.
Just contact us through the form at the bottom of the page with your award level requirements and we will be happy to give you a quote.
The Joint Award Initiative is a unique partnership between Gaisce – The President’s Award and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award which offers young people in Northern Ireland a choice of certification for their award achievement.
Under the Joint Award Initiative, young people in Northern Ireland who fulfil the requirements of the Joint Award Initiative can choose to receive Gaisce – The President’s Award, a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, or a Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold Award levels.
The packages that we provide are the same regardless of which path the young person chooses.
We know that it can be expensive for young people to gather up all of the required kit for a mountain expedition.Thats why we provide as many of most expensive items as possible. Our tents and camping equipment are really top quality and through our years of experience we know how to balance the need for quality and strength to withstand the mountain environment while still remaining lightweight backpacking options.
